The Students ‘Association of Oradea University

The Students ‘Association of Oradea University was established in the spring of 2003, in response to the students’ desire to have a representative student organization at University level. The start-up initiative began to materialize in February 2003, so that on 9 May 2003 the ASUO would acquire the legal personality. At least one month after its establishment, the ASUO was invited to take part in the General Assembly of the Romanian Students Union, the strongest federation of student associations in the country, now comprising 38 student associations from 20 universities (out of a total of 22). USR represents over 350000 students in Romania. On June 7, 2003 ASUO became a full member of the USR, and the ASUO president was elected the first vice president of the USR. ASUO was born out of the need to inform, organize, represent and support students’ interests. It also aims at promoting and capitalizing on the resources and potential of students.

Scopul declarat al ASUO, aşa cum este el specificat în Statutul asociaţiei, este de promovare a acţiunilor cultural civice ale studenţilor şi de respectare a drepturilor care li se cuvin. ASUO apără drepturile studenţilor membri, intervenind în scopul rezolvării problemelor lor şi peste tot unde ei sunt nedreptăţiţi. În vederea realizării acestui scop, ASUO îşi propune:

a) stimularea, promovarea şi cultivarea unor raporturi personale şi instituţionale cu studenţii; facilitarea comunicării între studenţi şi corpul profesoral şi de conducere al Universităţii.

b) participarea la programe locale, naţionale şi internaţionale pentru studenţi;

c) iniţierea de proiecte de promovare a valorilor universitare;

d) organizarea de congrese, colocvii, seminarii şi sesiuni de comunicări ştiinţifice, cu caracter intern şi internaţional;

e) promovarea activităţilor care pot duce la afilierea asociaţiei la organisme naţionale şi internaţionale de profil;

f) să fie partener de dialog pentru instituţiile abilitate în vederea reprezentării eficiente a studenţilor;

g) alte acţiuni conforme cu statutul asociaţiei şi cu dispoziţiile legale în vigoare.
